Massage Modalities w/CBD

30 minutes: $86.70
60 minutes: $113.80
90 minutes: $140.89
120 minutes: $200.50

CBD massage is simply a traditional massage using CBD oil or cream. In a regular massage, a massage therapist rubs and kneads your muscles with different amounts of pressure.

Massage therapy has shown multiple benefits, including:

  • Helping you feel relaxed
  • Lowering your stress
  • Reducing pain and soreness
  • Boosting your immune system
  • Reducing joint inflammation
  • Stimulating your circulation
  • Improving your sleep
  • Decreasing anxiety
  • Enhancing mood

In a CBD massage, CBD oil or cream is put on your skin. The massage therapist then starts your massage, targeting the specific areas you tell them need attention.

What Are the Benefits of CBD Massage?

A CBD massage can give you all the benefits of a traditional massage (mentioned above). That said, there isn’t much research on topical CBD use. We do know that massage stimulates your circulation, so adding CBD oil may increase the potential for pain relief. And because CBD oil is absorbed into your body through your skin, it may reduce inflammation. This may help with sore muscles and joints.

What Are the Side Effects of CBD?

CBD is usually tolerated well. But it can cause some side effects, such as:

  • Dry mouth
  • Drowsiness
  • Decreased appetite
  • Diarrhea
  • Fatigue
  • Mood changes, such as crankiness or agitation

Are There Other Risks?

There are some other potential risks to consider before you get a CBD massage, including:

  • Except for Epidiolex, products containing CBD aren’t FDA-approved. So they don’t have any standards to follow. This means they might have more or less CBD than the label says or they could have other ingredients, such as THC.
  • CBD can change how other medications you’re taking work. This can lead to serious side effects.
  • If you regularly use THC, adding CBD can cause brain impairment or psychotic effects.
  • CBD use has been linked to liver damage and damage to male fertility.
  • It’s unknown how CBD may affect fetuses, so using CBD while you’re pregnant is not recommended.
  • Using CBD while you’re breastfeeding is also not recommended.
  • As with many over-the-counter medications, CBD use can cause abnormal results on liver function tests. Be sure to tell your health care provider if you use CBD regularly.
  • Experts still don’t know what the most effective CBD dosage is for pain or any other condition. More research needs to be done to figure this out.
  • CBD products can have enough THC in them that it shows up in your urine. This could cause problems if your employer gives drug tests.

The bottom line: While you may find CBD massage helpful for pain relief, it’s smart to talk to your health care provider before you get one. This is especially true if you have a chronic medical condition or you’re taking other medications.

Chinese Fire Cupping

30 minutes: $70.45
70 minutes: $97.54

What is Fire Cupping?

Fire Cupping, also referred to as Cupping Therapy, is a Traditional Chinese Medicine therapy that works by helping to remove any blockages stopping the flow of Qi (pronounced 'chee') in the body.

Therapists will place warm glass cups onto a specific acupuncture point along an energy meridian. By warming the air within each cup, a vacuum is created that draws the tissue inside when placed onto the skin. This helps increase the blood flow, loosening the connective tissue, and stimulates the body's natural healing process.

This therapeutic process is often compared to deep tissue massage, which is used to break up residual scar tissue gradually and reduce pain in the area. Similarly, cups are placed on the back, shoulders, neck, arms or legs or a specific area where the patient is experiencing pain.

The cups can be left in place for between five to twenty minutes, depending on the nature of the condition and what your practitioner believes will work best.

Sometimes if the condition requires, your practitioner will also use techniques such as sliding the cups along the muscle to stretch, like in the action of a massage, or will use a technique that is called pop cupping, this technique encourages further blood and Qi flow to the muscles. The cups will then be gently removed by lifting one edge, allowing air to flow back in, breaking the vacuum seal.

Does Fire Cupping hurt?

Generally, fire cupping is very therapeutic, with many patients reporting that the experience is relaxing and feels similar to a deep tissue massage. Although the red marks left after each session can look scary, cupping is not painful, and the therapeutic release you feel can last for weeks.

What are the side effects?

Fire cupping can have some temporary side effects, such as circular bruising and soreness that can vary based on the level of suction created. These bruises can often last for a few days or a couple of weeks before fading away.

There may also be some temporary discomfort during the session as Qi is unblocked and tissue/muscle are loosened. Within TCM teachings, these symptoms are often seen as a positive outcome and suggest that your treatment has been successful in releasing blocked Qi and toxins.

Practitioners will always check if patients are suffering from any bleeding disorders or skin conditions before starting their sessions. Cupping should not be performed on skin that is inflamed, infected or burned or on patients that are suffering from hemophilia or other bleeding disorders.

How can it help?

As with many alternative treatments, the benefits of cupping start with localized pain relief and a feeling of relaxation. Traditional Chinese medicine practitioners use cupping to improve patients' overall health and well-being by unblocking Qi in the body.

Cupping can help increase blood flow and remove pain which is why many athletes and those with sports injuries commonly use this treatment.

There are many conditions that fire cupping can assist with, some of the most common being listed here:

  • Coughs, Asthma and Congestion

  • Digestive Issues

  • Localized

    Pain

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Back, Shoulder and Neck pain

  • High blood pressure
